Your Photos.. are YOURS

I just read a blog post by a newly-married bride who, when she wanted to make a scrapbook using her wedding photos, ran into a roadblock with her photographer's contract. Turns out, in addition to tacking on extra fees for the rights to print, the photog's contract forbid her to edit her own wedding photos, crop them, or change them in any way. Unless she paid more, that is. What the heck?

A lot of photographers you'll find will use copyright legalese to make even more money off their clients for just about anything--sharing photos with family, posting them online, or even printing them for personal use. It's a good way for the photog to make extra money (without doing anything), but it's a hassle for the bride and groom, and makes it harder for them to enjoy their photos.

When Philip Michael Photography is your wedding photographer, you don't need to worry about that. Our contract will give you full rights to do as you please with your photos; print, share, post, whatever! Full rights are rolled into my initial booking fee--which is still pretty competitive to other photogs, who are waiting to stick you with more when you're ready to enjoy your pics.

ALWAYS Judge a Book by its Cover

...When it's a photo book, that is.

One of the options my brides can add to their wedding photography package is to have be create a custom photo book just for them. While the CD's that come with every wedding package arrive in a timely fashion (usually no more than 2-3 weeks after the wedding), and is a convenient way to have your pics ready and portable for almost any use, having a gorgeously presentable photo book is a great way to have your wedding out and ready to be enjoyed at a moment's notice.
There are plenty of photo book services on the web that will allow you to upload your photos (after you're done sorting through them), which will then dump them into a generic template to be printed out.

My photo books are 100% unique to you. I sort through and arrange the photos and I  personally design the template for each page. I love exploring and playing with design elements--it's one of my favorite things to do. In fact, I've been designing unique promotional materials for companies for over 8 years. So when you add a photo book to your wedding package with me, you know the product you get is totally your own.

Just going through your photos and deciding which ones to put in the book can be a daunting task! After all, the typical wedding job will consist of over 1,000 pictures. Location, Location

One of the biggest decisions you'll make for your wedding is the venue. You want to find the place that provides the perfect backdrop for your celebration--but a backdrop is just temporary scenery without pictures to make it last! Turnaround...

...look at what you see. Sometimes, the saga of a new couple's wedding photos turns into a never-ending story. A few days ago, some friends of mine were talking about their upcoming one-year anniversary.
     "And we still don't have our wedding photos!" the bride complained. "We need to get back with that photographer." No doubt the picture-taker they had chosen was counting on it being too much of a hassle to pursue their pictures so late in the game.
